Where We Are from Wilma Richards on Vimeo.
Home, is so many things. This year we celebrated our last big shabang over yonder in good Old South Dakota at my parents. They will be moving next summer and my sis-in-law Lizi did a magnificent job capturing part of the magic of what our South Dakota summers are.

Phases
I love my children. I love watching them grow and change and enter new phases in their lives. However....I'm currently ready for Ethan's "prankster" phase to be over. I cannot tell you how many times I have turned on my kitchen sink only to become dowsed with water because said son has jimmy-rigged the sprayer nozzle to stay on so whomever the unfortunate soul is that turns on the water gets an extra shower for the day. He thinks it's hilarious that I keep falling for it, but little does he realize that he's training his mother to be very untrusting. Teenage Ethan is not going to like this development.

Apparently they add drama to the 4th grade curriculum and this was the story Ethan wrote:

How many things do I NOT like about this conversation?
The answer is 47.
Ethan: My head really hurts.
Me: Why does your head hurt?
Ethan:Because I hit it on the speaker that's on the ceiling of the basement yesterday.
Me: How did you hit your head on it if it's attached to the ceiling?
Ethan: I was standing on the bookshelf behind the couch and I jumped when I threw the weeble-wobble.
Me:Why were you throwing weeble-wobbles?
Ethan: It was a game. We were throwing them into the lego table but stopped when we made dents in the wall.
Me (after going down to the basement and discovering 45 weeble-wobble induced dents in the basement wall): Ethan, there are 45 dents in the wall. Why didn't you stop throwing the weeble-wobbles?
Ethan: Well we didn't actually see the dents until we stopped throwing the weeble-wobbles.
Let it be know that weebles wobble and they might not fall down, but they do make dents in the wall when chucked by 3 boys.
Let summer begin!
